OMG! Because He Takes Me is the second book in the seductive new series, Because He Owns Me, by Hannah Ford and may I just say - WOW! Like really, really WOW! I began reading Ford's work a few months ago when I discovered her What He Wants Series. She seems to specialize in serialized multi-installment novels with each release being the equivalent of one or two chapters totaling 35 to 50 pages each. I find that I actually enjoy this concept very much as long as the books are released weekly or bi-monthly and hers generally are. Each book is a short quick read and perfect for what I like to call a palette cleanser - something to stop sensory overload, relax my mind and enjoy in between heavy, full-length novels. Ms Ford is exceptionally talented in crafting realistic stories with complex characters and suspenseful plot twists. She also excels at maintaining the momentum of the story throughout the entire book without having to use empty filler dialogue to pace the continuation of the plot. If it's there, you better believe it means something and will be important to the story at some point. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The story is exciting, enchanting, romantic, seductive and arousing. The dialogue is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view although the main pov seems to come from the female lead of the story. The characters are captivating, engaging, intriguing and sexy as sin. Ford skillfully combines these elements into a delightfully entertaining cocktail of adult romance with a sensual twist of BDSM. Hubba! Hubba!

Book One: This story features recent college graduate Adriana O'Connor who has recently moved from Michigan to New York City to find a job, hopefully in a publishing house and start her new life. Although not unfamiliar with the ways of the world, she is quite naive. And apparently, she is also quite submissive as is quickly discovered by handsome, charismatic billionaire Callum Wilder, CEO and Founder of Wilder Holdings, LLC. Adriana has agreed to meet Nathan, whom she met on a dating app, for a blind date at Whipped, a club located in Midtown Manhattan. Nathan is a no-show and leaves the lovely Adriana waiting alone. Adriana is totally unaware that whipped is a BDSM Light Club and is caught totally off guard when she catches the eye of someone else... someone dark, handsome and much more experienced...someone who wants to dominate and own her...for only one night. What? One night??? Handsome billionaire Callum Wilder is immediately taken with the innocent young beauty sitting alone in the bar but Callum does not date nor does he do relationships. So what does he want with the lovely, innocent Adriana??? Well. he wants one night only of complete possession and mind-blowing sex! What??? But apparently it was never out of Callum's mind because somehow he finds her the very next day and all but demands that she join him for lunch. Of course it's not a lunch date because the arrogant Callum Wilder doesn't do dates. Riigghhtt.......not a date then!!! He's determined to have her and still wants her to submit to him for one night. Can he convince her to reconsider and accompany him on a business trip to Florida where he intends to have his wicked way with her - for only one night, of course! Nope, she refuses his offer until........Well, I'll never tell! Yep, the unworldly Adriana is definitely in way over her head with the sophisticated, charming and very dominant Callum Wilder and if she isn't careful, she may just find herself swimming with a shark! Oh my gracious! Buckle up my lovelies! Here we go again! This is the one we've been waiting for.....Does she or doesn't she??? And who is Rose??? I'm dying to know! I can hardly wait for the next installment! Deliciously seductive, seriously sexy, completely captivating and wonderfully entertaining! What more could you ask of a great read? Not a darn thing!!!

Too good and too short

This story just gets better with every page. Cullum invited Adriana for a weekend in Florida with a contract for one night of sex. She's not supposed to ask him any questions but amazingly he spent hours asking her about her life and why she wants to work in publishing. It's not surprising that when they get back home he sends her off with a " nice to have met you". While she knew this was his way, she's still hurt and angry. It's evident that she's young and inexperienced while he's been picking up women and walking away for a long time.
I am interested in seeing what her job interview brings about and why Cullum arranged it.....because you know that he did. No one gets a job interview at a company they never applied to.

Naïveté meets billionaire

Adriana is a somewhat naive, recent college grad. Callum is a twenty-eight-year-old billionaire entrepreneur. They meet, they set off on a one-night tryst that surprises and amazes Adriana. She begins to see the many facets that make up the man that Callum is. Some she likes and some she cannot begin to understand. Callum is amazed that Adriana had only been in the city two days before they met. She is unemployed and seeking a job in publishing. Russia's Islamic Threat

Russia's Islamic ThreatThis is published by Yale University press so the language is more academic and conscience making this a challenging book to read through, but if your looking for a detailed book on Islamic Terrorism in Russia then this is the book for you.

In Russia's Islamic Threat, Gordon M. Hahn talks about the spreading jihadist movement throughout many of the Muslim republics within Russia, beyond Chechnya and potential reasons why jihad is such an appealing idea to some Muslim populations within Russia like mass unemployment, and a state tendency to favor the Slavic majority within Russia. He also discusses how Vladimir Putin's recentralization of power away from the individial regions and into the hands of the state could and in many republics has given rise to radical Islamic cells within these republics that have carried out terrorist attacks in places such as Ingushetia, Dagestan, and the KBR.

Hahn closes with a discussion of policy steps that can be taken by both US and Russian forces to combat Islamic terrorism and decrease the likelihood of another Beslan or even worse a terrorist getting his hands on Nuclear material and creating a weapon that can be used to inflict mass casualties.

A selective, sneering disappointment

This is a prime exhibit of an agenda-focused, politicized book that gives a little knowledge mixed with a lot of propaganda. "Russia's Islamic threat", a very paranoid title itself, gives some insight as to the author's thought process. Happily Hahn is not exactly opposed to Islam within or around Russia--more to public manifestations. Much as neoconservatives and liberal hawks did after 9/11 for the United States, Hahn ties any and every even mild Islamist movement with the poorly conceptualized "global jihad"--by which, apparently, he means Islamists with global networks, a far less daunting prospect in a globalized world than it sounds.

Using the United States' traditional hostility towards Russia as a fig leaf to explain that Russia has been misunderstood--itself not exactly a flawed premise, but one that he exploits to the full--Hahn goes on to term any armed Islamist group within Russia as unambiguously, evil, barbaric terrorists. Not once does he mention that even the most heinous crimes of the most hardened Islamist rebels in places like Chechnya--such as the horrific Beslan school crisis--were, however horrible, a fraction of the scorched-earth, collective punishment campaign launched by the Russian state that entirely flattened Chechnya and killed anywhere from a million to two million Chechens. That is not a justification of the brutal terrorism that was waged at such venues as Beslan school by Chechen rebels, but it is entirely ignored and thereby the conflict given a one-sided, distorted history that paints Chechens as barbaric savages (with an occasional "good" Chechen, like the brutal pro-Russian puppet thug Ramzan Kadyrov) and the Russian army as a poor, misunderstood entity unfairly vilified by external observers intrinsically anti-Russia. It is true that there is an anti-Russian bias in the media, but it pales before the anti-Islam bias & in fact the bloody conflict in Chechnya has been looked through nearly exclusively through either a Russian state lens--like Hahn's own perspective--or a post 9/11 perspective--which paints, like Hahn, the Chechen rebels as barely different from Al-Qaeda--or an evasive "it's a horrible tragedy" perspective, which is certainly true but misses an in-depth coverage that is needed on both sides.

Hahn's analysis of the various Chechen actors is not bad--though again, in his attempt to paint Russia as the aggrieved stabilizer threatened by evil Chechens, he links everything, even the vaguest and most circumstantial links, to Al-Qaeda. The Arab commander Khattab, for instance, did not belong to Al-Qaeda; nor did he, as Hahn asserts, impose Saudi-style "Wahhabism" in Chechnya (indeed correspondences between rebel leaders showed that Khattab was wary of imposing his interpretation of Islam on the famously assertive Chechens). Instead the growth of Saudi-style "purist Islam" was the result of 1) foreign funds, which were not coercive but probably did make a difference and 2), most importantly, the cooption of the traditional Sufi clergy like Akhmad Kadyrov into the Russian repression, which naturally forced embittered Chechens to look elsewhere to hardline groups.

Hahn's dissection of the Islamic dimension is painful and either willfully selective or ignorant (neither can be discounted in the professional counterterrorism field, which has many embarrassingly underqualified analysts). He is better on inter-Chechen conflicts, but again selective. For instance, it is true that the hardliners like Shamil Basayev made it extremely difficult for Chechen president Aslan Maskhadov to control the briefly independent Islamic republic (1996-99). But Maskhadov was also crippled & undermined by the Russian regime, which in an attempt to consolidate the "tough on terrorism" stances of the corrupt Yeltsin and the hardline Putin always reneged on deals it made with the hard-pressed Maskhadov, only to declare him unfit and incompetent when he was backed into a corner. That goes unmentioned. So does the fact that even the most bloodthirsty and ruthless Chechen commanders, like Basayev, paled in front of the vicious pro-Russian thug Ramzan Kadyrov, who effectively became an unaccountable baron whose violence far outranked that of even Basayev and other extremists. This selectiveness is a major flaw and undermines Hahn's credibility. It is especially bizarre because Hahn does have a ton of useful information on his website. He just picks and chooses from it, always painting the darkest possible scenario"

Outside of the dominant Chechen conflict, the problem with the book's stance towards Islam is to view it--as the title implies--purely from a threat perspective, which generates a naturally defensive, reactive, paranoid & self-defeating view (this applies, by the way, not only to Russia but to Western countries like the United States, France & others who have abandoned qualified experts on Islam, Muslim history & conflict resolution in favour of ranting extremists and career scaremongers). Russia does have a significant Muslim minority that it must deal with while protecting the interests of the state & its majority citizens. But paranoid, selective regime loudspeakers like Hahn will not help.

As in the third edition, Bernard Bass begins with a consideration of the definitions and concepts used, and a brief review of some of the betterknown theories. Professor Bass then focuses on the personal traits, tendencies, attributes, and values of leaders and the knowledge, intellectual competence, and technical skills required for leadership. Next he looks at leaders' socioemotional talents and interpersonal competencies, and the differences in these characteristics in leaders who are imbued with ideologies, especially authoritarianism, Machiavellianism, and self-aggrandizement. A fuller examination of the values, needs, and satisfactions of leaders follows, and singled out for special attention are competitiveness and the preferences for taking risks. In his chapters on personal characteristics, Bass examines the esteem that others generally accord to leaders as a consequence of the leaders' personalities.

The many theoretical and research developments about charisma over the past thirty years are crucial and are explored here in depth. Bass has continued to develop his theory of transformational leadership -- the paradigm of the last twenty years -- and he details how it makes possible the inclusion of a much wider range of phenomena than when theory and modeling are limited to reinforcement strategies. About the Author
Dr. Bernard M. Bass was Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the School of Management at Binghamton University and director of the Center for Leadership studies. Since 1946, he has published more than four hundred journal articles and twenty-six books concentrating on leadership, behavior, and international management. Dr. Bass has consulted and conducted training for many of the Fortune 500 firms and conducted workshops in more than forty countries. He was founding editor of The Leadership Quarterly.

The Most Comprehensive Leadership Book Ever!

This is a brand new, updated version of Stogill's and Bass's handbook which was last updated in 1990. I purchased it because Ron Riggio and Ruth Bass talked about it at ILA Conferenc in November 2008, just prior to the release of the book. This was the last publication that Bernard Bass was in progress writing/editing before he passed away in late 2007. Also, although Ruth Bass worked along side Bernard Bass with much of his research, I believe this is the first publication which includes her as author/editor. It is truly a treasure -- chocked full of research which masters and doctoral students can use for dissertations, including gender, diversity, conflict, power, the "new" charisma and leadership, you name it! There is a new section on Global Leadership which I've found to be very useful for a Global Leadership class since it incorporates research which has taken place since the GLOBE study.

Exciting, Interesting, & Full of Battles

This is a review dictated to me by my 10 year old son after he read this book:
This was about a boy who left his home in England because his uncle had given him money to go to India and become a rich merchant when the French and English were battling over who would rule India. Instead of becoming a rich merchant, the boy became a solider in the English army. He fought so well that he rose to officer rank. When he returned home, he was a colonial and had earned almost 100,000 pounds for winning battles. I liked that there was an action-packed war with plenty of battles in this book. I learned that some people can be very faithful if you do something kind for them and that even a cook can fight well. I think boys who like to read books with plenty of battles would especially enjoy this book.
